The "Tollhaus"

In this household live six persons aged from 16 up to 45. We share our house with - at the moment - 14 dogs.
We live in a big house with 6.000 square metres estate round it. The stable and pasture are next to our house.

Because we have no cages we have got two special dog-rooms next to the kitchen and my bedroom. They are usually occupied by our borzois ( Chor vom Tollhaus, 8 years; Coco Chanel vom Tollhaus, 8 years;  Leicro`s Russian Zebeede 3 jear, Indian Summer 3 year  and Jason 18 month) because it is always a bit cooler there.
The rest of the pack who likes to sleep in the big warm kitchen consist of: one Bouvier, Bruno, 12 years; one American Cocker, Kosy, 11 years; one Whippet, Ayleen, 10 years; one Scottish Terrier, Caro, 9 year, two black Terriers 10 month and 16month old and of course last but not least Hubert,6 years old - he is a Bloodhound.

Now a few words about my person. My name is Brigitte Döring and I`m 45 years old. I have got my first Irish-Wolfhound when I was 25 years old - it was my dream dog.
We have got dogs in our house since I was six years old - Dachshunds and New-Foundland-dogs. With regard to behaviour, education and the right owning of dogs we have been through a hard school. Our father insisted that if you take responsibility for a creature you should know as much as possible about it. That is the reason why we have got to read and learn a lot about dogs from raising up to behaviour in our early childhood.
That helped a lot and so you find a lot of literature about different breeds, problems and raising and genetics in my bookshelves today.
After owning Irish-Wolfhounds for 14 years I thought it was about time that I breed dogs myself. My first litter was an Irish-Wolfhound one because meanwhile I learned a lot especially about this breed.
In November 1995 our first pups were born. Since then we had regularly offspring, Wolfhounds and - for five years now - as well Borzois.
The variety of breeds in our house is of benefit for our pups because they learn that there are different types of dogs with different tolerance thresholds.

But everything would not be able without the full support of my husband and my children. Without them I couldn`t  manage all the work and the raising of the pups although I am at home all the time.
Thank you very much, Joachim and my children that you help me live my dreams!!!
